BecksyMoo was started in June 2018 but had been a clothing project in process for many many many years before that. I had always wanted to have my own business where I was creating beautiful things to sell, and had a light-bulb moment on my year out in Australia….. I knew 100% for certain that this is what I want to do with my life.
No more boring 9-5 jobs just to pay the bills, no more working as a ant making someone else wealthy whilst I get the peanut shells left on the floor haha. Traveling gave me the confidence, and the kick up the backside, that I needed to just fling myself into this project and do everything I can to make a success of it.
I ignored all the little voices in my head, and outside, that said that this project will not work blah blah blah. If everyone listened to those voices nothing would ever move forward in the society.
BecksyMoo focuses on creating beautiful quality garments out of up-cycled fabrics. I source these fabrics from my local charity shops, from friends and family or from second hand auction sites. All fabrics are good quality, mostly chosen for their nostalgic prints or bright colours to create beautiful unique garments.
There is a real strong growing interest in all things sustainable, not just industry insiders but also the general public are now getting much more clued up thanks to social media pushing articles into peoples faces that the newspapers seem to disregard in favour for the most recent celebrity gossip.
As well as clothing I also make ties, toys and other items out of the off cuts, and undertake custom orders.
